The Britannia Penny: Original 1967 One Penny Piece pressed by the Royal London Mint and layered in pure gold.
We are proud to offer for sale a limited number of coins from the Royal London Mint’s final pressings of this iconic piece of British heritage.
These coins were struck in what turned out to be the final year of production of ‘old’ pennies intended for circulation to the public. This was the last time the Britannia emblem appeared on a British Penny. With the introduction of decimalisation this classic image was dropped from use on the new, smaller ‘1p’ piece.
These classic Collectable Coins were intended for public use but, although not proof, have been stored in their original state as produced by the Royal Mint for many years. To preserve their appeal we have layered each 1967 Penny in 24 carat (pure) gold creating a limited edition of striking Golden Penny coins.
These Golden Penny coins are a much cherished piece of British history featuring the world renowned representation of a maiden warrior holding a trident and shield. The Strength and Serenity of Britannia is emphasised by the gold layer which can be seen in the example photos.
These Collectable Coins are supplied in specially made cases, with a choice of colours, and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. To purchase your Britannia Penny at £29.99 including VAT and free UK mainland delivery, please select your colour box and click on ‘Add to Basket’.
